The Reality

Cystinuria is a condition that is not experienced by dogs only, humans also suffer from it.

Having said this, it is important to understand that if you find out your child has Cystinuria and you will now move the heavens and earth to make sure they are properly treated and supported throughout their life that you will do the same for your dog. There are owners that might think they got a "bad deal" when acquiring their dog who turns out has Cystinuria, that their dog is "faulty" and move to get rid it in some way. Would you do they same with your child ? Believe us when we say that your dog knows what you are going through while dealing with His/Her problem and feels sorry and grateful towards You.

That is the nature of dogs, we should not be less.

Cystinuric dogs can live normal lives and in some cases longer than non cystinuric dogs. 

There is no "special" treatment, just making sure they don't eat certain things.

It's like chocolate, we know that it is toxic to dogs and just don't give them that, so you are already making sure of that for the rest of your dog's life, why should taking extra care of what he eats in general be any different ?  Its not !

There is no cure for Cystinuria since it is a gene issue, but your dog can live a long, healthy and happy life without ever experiencing Cystinuria issues.
