The Diet

The K9ACC diet consists of selected meats, vegetables, fruit, herbs, spices, grain and oils.
The diet provides mixed proteins that are not based on meat alone as protein is also found in other foods which are not high in Cystine or Methionine.
Vegetables have a significant role in our diet as they include vitamins, minerals and much needed nutrients that help our dogs remain healthy and fit.
The use of selected herbs and spices offer kidney and bladder support while fighting of inflammation. The fruit we use acts as natural antioxidants and also contribute to bladder care.

Prior to starting the K9ACC diet we suggest an initial stage of preparation that we call "stage 1". The 1 month stage acts as a smooth transition from dry food to cooked food and helps to monitor your dog's response to D-Panicilamine, a medication that is used for canine Cystinuria worldwide.

During the 1 month we suggest feeding a clinical diet accompanied by high fluid intake to flush the kidneys and bladder. No treats are given during this stage.
At the second half of the month we slowly transition from the clinical diet to the K9ACC diet.

From the 2nd month we now feed the K9ACC diet on a daily basis.
Treats can be made available again at this stage.

For safe cystinuric treats see our Treats tab.
